The initial assessment meeting is with the director of the centre who is has dual UKCP registration in the psychodynamic/psychoanalytic section and the integrative section of the register. The director has an M.A. in Psychotherapy & Counselling and twenty years experience of counselling & psychotherapy.
In the initial meeting you will be able to discuss in a confidential and non judgemental setting what has brought you to seek help through counselling. The director will then help you to decide which might be the best way forward for you, whether it is counselling, psychotherapy, or a more directive approach. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about the different approaches if you need to have anything clarified. You will also be able to tell the director what sort of time will be most suitable for you to attend your session on a regular basis.
Following the assessment the director will give a good deal of thought and consideration into who might work well with you. The director will then allocate you to a practitioner at the centre who will then telephone you to make an appointment. If when you meet your counsellor or therapist you decide you can work together then you will be able to see the same practitioner at the same time every week.
